Organized by the Municipality of Carmagnola with the support of the Metropolitan City of Turin, the fair remains a key event for industry professionals and enthusiasts of traditional products. The Contribution of the Chierese-Carmagnolese Food District The fair will officially open on Friday, March 7, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, with a special event titled “The Chierese-Carmagnolese Food District Presents the 561st Spring Fair.” This free-entry event will take place at the Fair Hall on Viale Garibaldi 27-29, offering a deep dive into the heart of local gastronomic traditions. The event will be hosted by Simona Riccio, a digital strategist specializing in the agri-food sector, who will lead a discussion with cheesemakers, farmers, and butchers from the region. The focus will be on traditional food processing techniques, covering products such as apples, peppers, pasta, wine, and beer, with a special emphasis on dairy and meat production. Adding a practical and educational element to the event, students from the Agricultural Section of the Baldessano-Roccati Institute in Carmagnola, the Norberto Bobbio Hospitality Institute in Carignano, and Agenform – a training center specializing in dairy and meat processing in Moretta will participate. Their contributions will enrich the discussion, which will conclude with a free tasting of local products. A Spring Fair Focused on Agricultural Innovation The Spring Fair will continue with a packed schedule of events over the weekend of March 8 and 9. Piazza Italia will host the 44th Provincial Livestock Show of the Piedmontese and Italian Holstein Cattle Breeds, organized by ARA Piemonte in collaboration with breeders’ associations. Visitors will have the chance to discover the finest cattle of the region, with technical evaluations and awards scheduled for Sunday, March 9. The streets surrounding the Foro Boario will be transformed into a large exhibition space featuring agricultural machinery and equipment, while the Farmers’ and Food Artisans’ Market will offer tastings and direct sales of local products. In the castle gardens, the Domenico Ferrero Horticultural Mutual Aid Society will curate a craft market exhibition, while “The Farm in the City” will provide children with the opportunity to interact with farm animals. This highly significant event, dedicated to the excellence of local traditions, will take place from December 15 to 18, 2024. It offers a unique opportunity to explore the quality of typical regional products, highlighting the agricultural and cultural heritage of the area. The Foro Boario in Piazza Italia will host a diverse program featuring exhibitors, tastings, and activities for all ages. The fair becomes a moment of both leisure and learning, attracting families, food enthusiasts, and industry professionals. On Sunday, the day will begin with the exhibition of Piedmontese cattle and giora, judged by experts who will select the best specimens in each category. The winners will be awarded a traditional satin-colored cover, a distinctive mark of quality. In addition to the cattle selection, visitors can admire a large display of agricultural machinery, livestock equipment, and cereal farming tools. A key attraction will be the market of agricultural and artisanal excellence, showcasing a selection of seasonal and processed food products from the region. Alongside it, the creativity market will feature local craftsmanship. In collaboration with the Baldessano-Roccati Agricultural Institute, the fair will also host the 15th Long Sweet Leek Market Exhibition of Carmagnola, a product recognized for its exceptional quality and unique characteristics.
